The Winter 2012 issue of the Law & Courts Newsletter is now ready. In this issue we have several very interesting articles. After an address from Chris Zorn, the Law & Courts Section Chair, there is an article from Nancy Maveety about the Beverly Blair Cook courthouse postcard collection. Next, Michael Bailey discusses the showdown between the Supreme Court and Obamacare. Clarissa Dias and Michael Fix then offer information pertaining to measures of judicial independence; followed by Ryan Owens and Justin Wedeking who offer advice on computer content analysis. Finally, we have Laura Hatcher, Logan Strother, and Randolphe Burnside who discuss private property rights in a flood control system. And, as always Drew Lanier provides information about ‘Books to Watch For’. My thanks to the authors for their submissions and to my graduate assistant Rebecca Reid for her help with the initial layout.
You can access this issue from the University of South Carolina’s Judicial Research Initiative (JuRI) website at www.cas.sc.edu/poli/juri/2012_
The deadline for submissions for the Summer Issue is May 15th. Please consider sending your essays and articles.
