Job: Asst/Assoc/Full Professor in Public Law including judicial studies

The Department of Political Science and the Law and Public Policy Program at Northeastern University seek a professor in Law and Politics, broadly defined. This position is open rank. Scholars focusing on international as well as domestic topics in the field of public law are encouraged to apply. We anticipate hiring a productive and innovative research scholar with demonstrated excellence in teaching. We are particularly interested in scholars who study the relations between political systems and the law, but will consider candidates in a wide range of fields including law and society, judicial politics, comparative judicial studies, and law and public policy.


A PhD is required prior to the start of the appointment.

The Department of Political Science trains undergraduate, masters, and PhD students in law and politics with a wide variety of interests including increasingly in international studies. It includes 24 full-time, tenured and tenure-track faculty members, two academic specialists, and three staff persons. There are 450 undergraduate majors and almost 200 graduate students in the MA, MPA, and PhD programs. The Law and Public Policy program is an interdisciplinary program that offers the PhD, MS, and JD/MS degrees. The preferred candidate will be able to contribute to the two programs’ undergraduate and graduate curricula.
